The University of Florida Forest Entomology Lab is looking for a “writing” postdoc focused on entomology and biosecurity. The ideal applicant will be capable of effectively synthesizing scientific literature, knowledgeable in APHIS regulatory language, and/or understanding the biology of wood-boring insects. A track record of research (or regulatory) writing is required.
UPDATE: Thanks to new recent funding, this position can also include substantial international travel.
This position will focus on three interlinked elements:
- Write New Pest Response Guidelines (NPRGs) on wood borers that pose risk to the U.S. but remain poorly documented.
- Lead a workshop, or several workshops, in multiple countries focused on invasive wood borers.
- Carry out independent research leading to peer-reviewed publications of your own choice.

- Annual salary: $60,000
- Duration: This will be a one-, two-, or three-year position, depending on performance. The contract will include a three-month probation period.
